Baptism at 1st Street Church

Baptism is one of the most meaningful moments in a person's faith journey — and we'd love to celebrate it with you.

At 1st Street Church, we believe baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus. It's not what saves you — only faith in Jesus saves. Baptism is simply a way of saying out loud, in front of your community, "I put faith in Jesus." That's why we practice full submersion baptism in front of the whole congregation, and why we make it one of the first things we do on Sunday morning. To us, it's worth celebrating together.

Baptism isn't a new idea — it's a tradition that goes all the way back to Jesus himself. We see it as a gift he left for his followers, a simple and powerful way to mark the moment you chose to follow him. Our goal isn't to gatekeep or enforce a checklist. It's to give every person who has decided to follow Jesus the opportunity to participate in something historic, communal, and deeply meaningful.

Baptism is for anyone who has decided to follow Jesus and is ready to declare that faith publicly. We don't have an age requirement — because faith doesn't have one either. What we do ask is that the person being baptized is able to make that decision on their own, and has an understanding of what it means to put their faith in Jesus. We hold this humbly, not as a barrier, but because we want baptism to be a genuine and meaningful moment for everyone who takes that step.
